At Maa Yoga Ashram our emphasis is on health and wellness which leads to contentment and a fulfilling life. Our goal is long term happiness that comes from a healthy body, mind and spirit. The Ashram is founded and headed by Yogi Dr. Amrit Raj who is a 4th generation qualified Ayurvedic doctor and a 500 hour registered yoga teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, USA. His unique and holistic approach to wellness comprises elements of Yoga, Ayurveda and Panchakarma. Dr. Amrit Raj is an honorary visiting professor at the Dinacharya Ayurvedic Institute in New York. Besides India, Dr. Raj has given lectures and classes in the United Nations and has offered stress management yogic techniques to oncologist in the USA. At his ashram in India Dr. Raj provides consultation services to help cure chronic and lifestyle diseases.
Consultation Based Holistic Ayurvedic TreatmentYoga and Ayurveda are science based ancient philosophies that are experiential in nature. The methodology has been tried and tested by the ancient yogis. Ayurveda is based on the five elements air, fire, water, earth and ether. Ayurveda believes that the well being of the human body is affected by a permutation and combination of these elements and any imbalance in these elements can lead to disease. A personal consultation can provide an accurate reading of the individual’s ‘doshas’, metabolic system and help in recovery from illness. What is unique about Dr. Amrit Raj’s approach is that along with the physical body he studies the psychology of the person too as he feels it is the intellect that drives the elements.
Detoxify, Rejuvenate and Manage Stress at Maa Yoga AshramDetoxification leads to a balance of elements in the body which could otherwise lead to disease. There are various kinds of Panchakarma practices that are offered at Maa Yoga Ashram. While there is Panchakarma treatment for chronic diseases there is also panchakarma for healthy people and serves as a preventive and rejuvenation measure. Detoxifying the body at regular intervals ensures good mental, physical and spiritual well being. Today’s hectic lifestyle is full of stress. Stress management has become necessary in order to prevent hypertensive and coronary diseases. The 7 and 14 day programmes at the Ashram will help you to reduce office burnout and fatigue, increase energy levels, regulate sleep and improve digestive metabolism. You will have a sense of well being once the accumulated cellular toxicity is reduced. Your memory, your concentration and your reflexes will be recharged with new energy.
Maa Yoga Ashram Offers Weight Loss and Skin Health ProgrammeThe weight loss and skin health programmes are based on Yoga, Ayurveda, and Panchakarma. The reasons for weight gain and skin problems are varied and the holistic approach adopted at the Maa Yogashram takes you to the root of the problem. The digestive tract and the liver are the two major factors that ensure good metabolism. However, if the liver, which is the main detoxifier and the digestive tract are overloaded and cannot function properly then skin problems, lethargy and weight gain, are bound to plague you. Dr. Amrit Raj outlines a customized detoxification, dietary and yoga plan for each individual who comes to the Ashram with weight or skin problems. Following the recommended diet, yoga practice, meditation and Panchakarma techniques help the person to lose weight. The skin puts on a healthy youthful and wrinkle free appearance.
Harmful Disease Causing Toxins Removed with PanchakarmaPanchakarma is a cleansing, detoxification and rejuvenation process. If we do not take care of our minds and bodies with a regimen of physical exercise or form healthy eating habits, toxins get continually accumulated in our system. It becomes very important to remove this accumulated sludge from the body to remain healthy. Panchakarma uses scientific methods like ‘Snehan’ medicated oil massage, ‘Swedana’ herbal steam bath and ‘Shiro dhara’ hot oil stream on the head, to remove this accumulation of harmful toxins. The yoga retreat offered at the Maa Yogashram aims to reduce the influence the “ama” (non-processed toxins) on the physical and psychological being. Detox is recommended twice a year, preferably in spring and in autumn seasons, when the elements in nature are also undergoing changes that affect the human body.
